Further to our article yesterday regarding Hatzala Melbourne's handling of complaints and questions about its Board and Constitutional structure, we received
an email from a reader who complained about
our coverage of this “private” issue.
The reader kindly shared a link with us of Melbourne
Hatzala being interviewed for a Jewish TV show.
In the clip Danny Elbaum, the Operations Manager of
Hatzala discusses the founding of Hatzala with Henry Greener of “The Shtick” amongst other Hatzala matters.
"The Shtick" labels itself as "The only Jewish TV show in Australia".
Wow!
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe what I just saw and heard Elbaum say @2:20!!
Elbaum reckons Hatzolah is the "First time Adass set something up outside of their own community for the entire Jewish community".
What on earth man? Poor form. And completely false.
I remember Rabbi Groner telling us how without Adass Yisrael Melbourne's Yiddishkeit would be non-existent.
Rabbi Groner zol rien in gan eden was a seriously erliche yid who understood to other yidden, especially the Austro-Hungarian-Chassidishe yidden of Adass who is was so machshev.
ReplyDeleteWho can forget those Shevii shel Pesach nights after Adass was finished and a group of derhoibene Adass chassidishe yidden would go over to Rabbi Groner's house to give him much needed chizek. He was always thrilled. I used to go with my Zeide zol rien in gan eden and Rabbi Groner would thrive and start talking his mame lushen, Yiddish.
Pretty unprofessional TV show if you ask me. But what would I know? I only watch cricket and footy.
ReplyDeleteWho is this Henry bloke? never heard of him.
Also Henry, it's Kel, not E-l.
Didn't Adass create the first Kosher eiruv in Australia in conjunction with the broader frum community? It certainly didn't go ahead without the stamp of approval of the Adass.
ReplyDeleteDanny is off his rocker with his anti-Adass bias.
ReplyDeleteJust a few things that spring to mind that Adass did for the entire community:
1)
First dedicated Jewish cemetery. Not just in Melbourne but in Australia!
2)
First ladies mikvah in Melbourne and probably Australia.
3)
First (and more or less only) producers of Chalav Yisroel also in Australia not just Melbourne.
All of the above were for and still are available and used by the "broader" Jewish community.
I don't understand how Hatzolah which is an Adass initiative and is under the halachic guidance of Melbourne Chief Dayan Katz who is hyper-Hassidic, can allow their "ops manager"to go on a TV show , TV which has been assered by every posek in the world.
ReplyDeleteis hatzolha under adass ? Danny says adass does zero
ReplyDeleteMy understanding is Adass started Hatzala but Mizrachi took it over.
ReplyDeletewhy does danny always bash adass ? they pay his wages ? eli you should sack him , wake up
